Starting March 1, approval is required for any burning activities in Alberta's forest protection areas, except for campfires.

But, there is the potential for an abrupt transition to summer-like weather in May.
As a result, that is a good reminder that we can’t let our guards down when it comes to fire safety, despite the fact we have some evidence to suggest the risk will be lower to start the season.
We’re still likely to see a period of high risk in May and June.
