Harrow, Colchester experiencing flooding after heavy, quick rainfall
The Town of Essex and the Essex Region Conservation Authority are warning of flooding in parts of Essex County.
FORECAST: 100+ mm in 3 hours: Heavy rain batters parts of southern Ontario
In a statement, the Town of Essex warned of localized flooding in the Harrow and Colchester areas.
"There's been a lot of rain in a short period of time," Mayor Sherry Bondy said in a Facebook video.

Bondy said pump stations are all working, but "can't keep up," because of the large amount of rain the town received in a very short period of time. The town confirmed that staff and contractors are "working diligently and have ensured that all pumps are running and functioning as designed."
The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning, with rain gauges at the southern end of the region recording more than 60 millimetres of rainfall.
Roads current impacted by flooding including County Road 50 in the town of Essex, between County Road 41 and Wright Road. The road is currently closed.
"Areas between these streets have significant water over the roadways including many roads heading south towards Lake Erie," the conservation authority said in a statement.
People are encouraged be extra cautious and avoid areas where flooding is happening because of slippery banks and fast moving water. Children, pets and livestock should all be kept away from flowing or standing water.

Bondy also encouraged residents to avoid driving down road that have flooding on them, because driving through the water can cause wakes that can further damage people's property. If it's unavoidable, she says it's best to move slowly.
Bondy said residents can use the Report a Problem line at Essex town hall by calling 519-776-7336 ext.1100.
