Very wet first unofficial weekend of summer in the Maritimes
Newfoundland to avoid most of the Maritime rain, while Labrador won't be as lucky
While this weekend’s unofficial kickoff to the summer season may have started off dry for the Maritimes, that’s about to change this Sunday with rain coming for everyone, except most of Newfoundland.
A low-pressure system will brought in showers to the Maritimes that will continue into Sunday. Temperatures are set to stay in the mid-teens on Sunday and Monday.

Newfoundland, on the other hand, will see a mix of sun and clouds spread across the province on Sunday, with some areas dropping below 10°C.

No showers spared for New Brunswick and Nova Scotia
Sunday morning, residents of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia could wake up to a rumble of thunder in and around areas like Saint John and Yarmouth.

And as the rain settles in on Sunday, the Halifax area could also experience an isolated thunderstorm during the afternoon. Most of New Brunswick and central Nova Scotia will see rain on Sunday, along with a small amount hitting southern Labrador.

By Monday, we will see scattered showers through the Maritimes as they slowly end from north to south as the low-pressure system moves southward.
Newfoundland will continue to be spared from the rain, except for the extreme southwestern tip of the island. While western Labrador will see an extensive trough, bringing rain and snow Sunday night into Monday morning.

By the end of Monday, most of northern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia will have seen high amounts of rain, while Halifax will have only had 10 mm.

The big winner out of this weekend will be eastern Newfoundland, as they’ll have had sunshine and moderate temperatures from Sunday to Monday.
