Canadians are no strangers to a cold start to the spring season, but that doesn’t mean teases of warmer weather aren't welcome either. Will the mild conditions finally reach central and eastern Canada?

All while the west continues to heat up, much of eastern Canada is still awaiting a longer stretch of warmer spring weather. There have been teases of it here and there, but nothing seems to stay consistently mild.

This would beat the record for the longest stretch of temperatures above 20°C for any eastern city so far this year. Ottawa and Windsor currently stand at three consecutive days, while Toronto has only felt two days in a row at 20°C or higher. In Montreal, Que., there's been four consecutive days of 20°C temperatures so far.

Through next week, Ontario and Quebec could see a stretch of seven to nine days at or above 20°C, with some of those days even soaring into the high 20s! A nice way to enter into the unofficial kickoff to the summer season.

It'll be tougher for the Maritimes to hold on to any extended warmth, with a quick shot of milder weather expected on Wednesday, and the colder air fighting back for the rest of the week. There's hope that the warmth may win out by the time the long weekend rolls around.
