Steady rain, gusty winds sweeping Manitoba into Friday
Expect the system to continue into Friday on the eastern Prairies
Expect steady rainfall and gusty winds to continue into Friday as a Colorado low pushes across the eastern Prairies.
The rain is a welcome arrival for communities across the province facing a moderate to severe drought. While it won’t wipe out the rainfall deficit, any little bit helps.

Rain and winds continue into Friday
We’ll see the centre of low pressure continue moving northward through the overnight hours Thursday and into the day Friday.

Rain that began Thursday will persist into Friday as the system tracks through the Interlakes region.
Widespread rainfall totals of 20-40 mm will spread across Manitoba to end the week, with amounts closer to 10-20 mm on tap for the Winnipeg area.

Gusty winds will accompany the system as it moves through the region. Expect wind gusts to increase to 50-60 km/h during the day and into the evening hours Friday.
Cloudy and rainy conditions will contribute to cooler-than-normal temperatures through the weekend, with daytime highs around 10°C to 11°C expected in Winnipeg.
This may not be the end of the story, either—active weather may return by next week.
