
St. John's officially ties all-time record for most 20°C days in a year
St. John's, N.L., continues to set records following a record-breaking warm summer that stretched into September.
After a record-breaking summer that extended into September, St. John's, N.L., continues to set milestones.
The city tied its all-time record for the most days above 20°C in a single year, with 79 days as of early Monday morning, when the temperature at 6:30 a.m. was already above 20°C! The same record amount of 20-degree days was reached in 2022, as well.

This also follows its record-breaking number of 30°C days confirmed in August.

As of Monday morning, St. John's held the title for Canada's national hot spot, with a mild September reading of 23.4°C.

Will the 20-degree days hang on?
Warm southerly winds will ease by Tuesday, with temperatures trending closer to seasonal norms of 17°C and even slightly below by week’s end.
The best chance of adding another 20°C day this week will be Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on sunshine.

Current forecasts suggest highs of 18°C and 17°C under mostly cloudy skies, but an afternoon sunny break could push temperatures up a degree or two.
