Thanksgiving served with a side of snow in this major Canadian city

A major cooldown and Calgary's first fall snowfall this season has been served, with the snowflakes sticking around into early Sunday morning. Drivers will still need to prepare for slower-than-usual commutes because of slippery roads

Many Calgary folks woke up to a dusting of snow on Sunday morning, a likely shock to some who may not have been ready to see it just yet.

On Saturday evening, a cold front sent temperatures plummeting and the snowflakes flying in the city and other parts of Alberta-- which lingered into Sunday morning. It was all part of a setup that is bringing snow, rain, gusty winds and even some thunderstorms for parts of the Prairies this weekend.

While no major accumulations occurred in Calgary, it was the first snowfall of the fall for the major city and other locales, so many drivers may have been caught off guard. Travel could prove difficult in spots as roads will be slippery.
