Could we see Canada reach this first summer threshold of the year this weekend?

Some warm days have made an appearance in many provinces, but one threshold just hasn’t been reached yet in Canada: 30°C! But that could change this weekend for a lucky region

Forecasters were expecting to see April end in Ontario with Canada's first 30°C reading as a mass of warm, humid air moved over the southern reaches of the province on the 29th. While the warmth certainly felt like summer—especially with the damaging storms that followed—the warmest temperature recorded ended up being just shy of that 30 degrees.

Egbert, Ont., reached a high of 28.8°C on Tuesday, capturing the title of the warmest temperature recorded in Canada so far in 2025. But a cold front, which served as the trigger for Tuesday's stormy weather, has cooled things down quite substantially across southern Ontario.

Both Saturday and Sunday do hinge on the temperatures warming up slightly more than anticipated; however, the highs on both days are forecast to stay just under 30 degrees.

After such a warm and summery weekend to start off May, we'll see temperatures dip back to seasonal for the beginning of the work week. The temperature rollercoaster across the Prairies is then expected to continue through the long range.
