
Alberta welcomes April with 20+ cm of snow
Winter is not ready to let go, with persistent snow hammering Alberta's foothills this week
Sorry Alberta, this is no April Fool's Day joke.
Colder than normal temperatures have settled into the region, with significant snow taking aim at the southern Rockies and foothills late through Thursday. This will be a major snowfall event for areas like Banff and Canmore, which both have had an exceptional lack of snow for much of this winter.

The Calgary area could also pick up between 10-15+ cm of snow, but there will be a wide range in totals depending on elevation.

Snow pushes in from late Tuesday through Thursday
A trough will move through the province later Tuesday and into Wednesday, bringing scattered snow from the north to the south.

A quick couple of centimetres of snow is likely to fall, with isloated higher amounts between 5-10+ cm.
Some computer guidance highlights significant, but localized accumulation Tuesday night along the leading edge of the cold front near and north of the Calgary area.
Bursts of locally heavy snow are also possible for Olds, Airdrie, Beiseker, and Three Hill.
Snow totals could exceed 20 cm over higher terrain
With high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south, strong northerly winds will develop on Wednesday, with upslope snow forecast to fill in along the foothills.
As much as 15-25 cm of snow could fall from Tuesday night through to Thursday.

Bursts of heavy snow may move into Calgary at times as well, which could bring some heavier snow totals to the city.
Drivers should brace for the changing conditions, and keep an eye on any weather warnings in your area.
Major ridge of high pressure pushes temperatures up to 20°C
Temperatures will rise heading into the weekend, reaching double-digit highs once again. These milder conditions will also continue into next week.
A strong ridge of high pressure will send temperatures soaring close to 20°C in the south by Monday.
