20 degrees: Southern Ontario's roller-coaster spring is in full swing
Spring is in full swing across southern Ontario, along with it's rapidly changeable conditions and temperatures.
A warm front on Friday brought some much-anticipated warmth to southern Ontario, with communities from Windsor to Ottawa seeing the thermometer rise above 20 degrees before 11 a.m. ET. In fact, Pearson Airport recorded its highest temperature of the year so far on Friday! But while many may want to see the good times keep rolling, this is spring in Ontario, after all, and the roller coaster ride has just begun.
A second Colorado low impacting the province is bringing a tale of two seasons over the long weekend. The low will move into the region on Saturday, with a boundary that will sit nicely over the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in the afternoon.

Get ready for a steep temperature change
As the Colorado low's boundary makes itself comfortable over the GTA, we will see an easterly wind blow over Lake Ontario, keeping folks along the immediate shoreline, as well as those along and northeast of the Niagara escarpment in the cool, single-digit temperatures.
A warm front, however, will move into the southwest, bringing a southerly flow of above-seasonal warmth with it. While Toronto stays in the cold and dreary weather, Windsor will see temperatures once again reach the 20-degree threshold.

In fact, folks can also expect to see a 10-degree temperature increase between Toronto and Niagara. St. Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake will be too close to the lakeshore for much warmth, but temperatures in Niagara Falls are expected to reach up to 18 degrees.

We will also see a steep temperature change between Simcoe and Long Point, for any campers or bird watchers looking to head out this weekend.

Unfortunately, the low will also bring widespread rain and thunderstorms throughout Saturday, so folks won't be able to sit outside much and soak in the spring sunshine.
A cold front will slide into southern Ontario on Saturday evening, bringing temperatures down into the single digits across the province heading into Sunday. In fact, Windsor will see a 20-degree temperature drop between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night.

Be mindful of heavy traffic over the long weekend as people travel to visit friends and loved ones or to escape the cold temperatures. Though no lane closures or construction are expected on the QEW, 401, or 403, some ramps are expected to be closed during the overnight hours.
