City of Calgary’s golf course gates set to swing open Tuesday
It's time to dust off the golf clubs in Calgary! While local golfers can enjoy the start of the season on Tuesday, a major winter storm is forecast for other parts of the Prairies. Get the full report on the opening day for city courses.
Calgary golfers, the day has finally come to leave the simulator behind.
Thanks to a warm forecast, in part, Calgary says most of its city-owned golf courses will open for play on Tuesday, April 21.
In fact, the online reservation systems are already active for the Maple Ridge 18, McCall Lake 18, and Par 3, and Shaganappi 18 and Valley 9 courses. The Shaganappi driving range is also set to open on April 21.
But hurry, opening day tee times can sell out in minutes.

Opening day at the Lakeview Golf Course, the Confederation Park course and its driving range, and the McCall Lake driving range are yet to be announced. The city notes that the early-season golfing at all courses is still weather-dependent, and playability can change quickly.
Calgarians are in the midst of an unusual warm spell at the moment, with the mercury set to flirt with the 20-degree mark on Tuesday. The rest of the week looks a little more seasonal in the immediate region.
Those on the rest of the Prairies, however, might not want to shut down the golf simulator quite yet.

We’re expecting a significant snow event on the eastern Prairies this week. A potent low-pressure system is set to bring heavy snow, ice pellets and freezing rain to parts of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Snowfall totals through Friday could top 30 centimetres in some areas, likely to significantly impact travel and tee times.
