Cherry blossoms near peak bloom in High Park: What to know for this weekend
Cherry blossoms in Toronto's High Park are nearing peak bloom, expected to start Friday, May 1, with blooms lasting 4 to 10 days depending on weather
Cherry blossoms in Toronto's High Park are approaching peak bloom, becoming a key attraction for locals and visitors alike. The cool weather has slightly slowed their progress, but the blooms are right on track compared to prior years.
Peak bloom is anticipated to begin this Friday, May 1, according to Rohith Rao, Development Director at High Park Nature Centre. This weekend is expected to be an ideal time to visit with family or friends.

High Park will close to vehicle traffic starting May 1 to accommodate crowds, so visitors are encouraged to take the TTC. A bus also runs directly from High Park Station, though the surrounding area can become quite busy.
If visiting this weekend isn’t possible, the blossoms can still be enjoyed in the following days.

"Typically, blossoms last 4 to 10 days once they open, depending on the weather," says Rao. Calm and steady weather conditions can extend the bloom period, while rain or strong winds might shorten it.
