See it: Adorable lynx family caught on camera in NW Ontario
“What a way to end 2025!” Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Northwest Region in a Facebook post.
“One, two, three, four ... and then one lynx over there across the road!”
One Ontario police officer ended 2025 on a high note, having had the opportunity to spot a lynx family in northwestern Ontario on December 31.
In a Facebook post, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said Constable Stubbington from the Armstrong detachment “spotted something truly special while on patrol - a family of five Canada lynx: two adults and three kittens.”
The OPP called the encounter “a perfect final highlight for the year”.
The lynx is one of the most prevalent big cats in Canada, and can be found in most parts of the country.
This beautiful species has a total North American range of 7.7 million km2, although some of its habitat has been lost to deforestation and human activity.
You can spot a lynx by its tufted ears and large paws, although they're often mistaken for bobcats.
