Mandatory water saving measures in effect for 122,000 Halifax Water customers
Halifax Water is imposing mandatory water conservation measures for about 122,000 customers in the Dartmouth area.
The utility says the impacted customers are serviced by Lake Major in Dartmouth, Burnside, Cole Harbour, Westphal, North Preston and Eastern Passage.
The restrictions mean residents are prohibited from watering lawns, washing vehicles, filling pools and watering golf courses. The bulk fill stations services by Lake Major will also be closed.

Halifax Water said both residential and commercial customers are expected to abide by the measures or face a warning, a non-compliance fine or even their service being cut off.
"The goal is to help reduce demand until the rainfall can replenish the lake and remove/delay the need for an engineered pumping solution," the utility said in a news release Wednesday.
It is also asking residents to help out by not flushing urine, shortening showers, turning the tap off when you don't need it and only washing full loads of laundry and dishes.
